Good morning. One more update from me to assist our volunteers on the ground there on the storm headed to you later today through Monday.

Patriot Disposal Services Website: https://www.patriotdisposalservices.com/
Situation: Revised National Weather Service, Weather.com and Apple weather forecast between 6 and 12 inches falling through Monday. As such we are implementing a higher level of preparation for the storm.
Preparation Requests:
1. Please review the Snow Removal Policy – a couple of points I’d like to make.
1.A. When plows are operating they are working under specific instructions, please do not try to get them to accomplish other tasks. Contact the Streets and Sidewalks Chair if you have any questions.
1.B. Plows maintain a distance of 30 inches from all parking spaces / vehicles. The remainder of the distance is up to us.
1.C. Request you consider removing the snow and ice from the common sidewalks to the front, and in some cases, the rear of your townhomes.
1.D. Request you clear around nearby mailboxes and fire hydrants. These actions help us sustain a safe environment for those moving through our community or for any emergency response that may be necessary.
2. NO PARKING AT THE THREE Snow Emergency Curbs (white-painted curbs).
Extract from a Dominion Energy warning:
3. Keep your mobile phone and other devices fully charged.
4. If your power goes out, keep freezers and refrigerators closed as long as possible to preserve the food inside.
5. Download the Dominion Energy app for the easiest, most secure way to report and monitor the status of your outage or outages in your area.
6. Sign in to your Dominion Energy account and verify your notification preferences and contact information are up to date.
Current Status
1. 1200 TODAY. The pool parking lot will open at 1200 for parking and will remain open through the storm and cleanup. Please remove your vehicle from the parking lot as soon as practical after the storm. Closure time for the pool parking lot will follow in a future update.
2. The SNOW EMERGENCY CURBS will be marked with poles and tape as soon as practical.
3. 1600 TODAY. The SNOW EMERGENCY CURBS will become a NO PARKING ZONE at 1600 (4:00PM) today, Sunday, 5 January 2025. Any vehicle parked on those curbs will be relocated or towed if another offense is found on the vehicle.
Tonight and Tomorrow’s Plan
1. Our snow contractor will be out as often as they can per our directions to clear and salt the streets. They do not take direction or requests from individuals. If you have a concern or request please contact Streets@ParkWestCommunity.org.
From the Dominion alert:
2. If your power goes out, quickly report and track your outage with the Dominion Energy app or report it online at dominionenergy.com. You can also check for updates and view the outage map.
3. For your safety, please stay 30 feet away from downed power lines. Report them immediately by calling 1-866-366-4357.
Items for Consideration or Action
1. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU WALK OR DRIVE IN OUR COMMUNITY DURING THE STORM. With the expected rain to start and the follow-on low temperatures this evening, black ice could be under the snow throughout the community in any areas that have not had ice melt treatments applied to them. If it looks wet and shiny it’s probably a skating rink waiting for you to slide across…. That’s for people walking or vehicles trying to drive across the surface…. Watch your steps when you are walking and drive carefully if you are traveling by vehicle.
Be safe and take care of yourselves and your neighbors,
Thank you in advance for your efforts!
Regards,
Mark
