PWCA Information for Members and Residents (April 2019, Message #1)

Good morning to all. Here’s several items coming up I’d like to make you aware of:

  1. PERMIT PARKING PASS DISTRIBUTION (RESIDENT OWNERS and NON-RESIDENT OWNERS ONLY):
    — The new PWCA owners’ parking permits will be distributed between 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. this Sunday, April 7, 2019 and between 10:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Pool Parking Lot.
    — TENANT PERMITS ARE NOT IMPACTED.
    — We still have several owners who have not submitted their applications in at this time. Those owners should be ready to request temporary permits from your local parking official or park off community property until you provide the application, allow for the process to occur, and obtain your new permits. Registrations are requested with the applications to ease the issuance process – if you elect to bring your registrations on the 7th and the vehicle registration address and name does not synchronize with the owners’ information exactly you may be asked to return on the 13th to pick up your permits.
    — EFFECTIVE MAY 1st – ANY VEHICLE WITH A GREEN PERMIT WILL BE TOWED AS THOSE PERMITS WILL BE EXPIRED.
  2. TOT LOT AND SURROUNDING AREA CLEAN-UP. SATURDAY, APRIL 20th, 8:30 A.M.:
The area around the tot lot needs some work prior to the children hunting for Easter Eggs. Please consider giving some of your time to clean these areas. We will meet at 8:30 A.M. at the tot lot – trash bags will be supplied.
  3. EASTER EGG HUNT. SATURDAY APRIL 20th, 11:00 A.M.:
Our first social event of the year! The event will occur on Saturday, April 20th, from 11:00 A.M. to around 1:00 P.M., at the Tot Lot. Children under the age of 12 are invited to participate in the hunt. Snacks and drinks will be provided, if anyone wanted to contribute food for the event some Easter-themed cookies would be appreciated. Volunteers to help set up the event would be even more greatly
appreciated – setup will occur at 9:30 A.M. at the Tot Lot.
  4. ROAD RAIDERS CLEANUP EVENTS
Please consider joining these broader community initiatives. They occur each month – speak to Matt Strain or myself for more information. The Spring Parks & Lake clean up at Royal Lake and Lakeside parks will be Saturday April 27th.
  5. YARD DEBRIS COLLECTION. EVERY WEDNESDAY through DECEMBER.
The 2019 Wednesday pickup of yard waste began this week (April 3rd). Fairfax County mandates yard waste be placed out in paper bags or in containers marked ‘YARD WASTE’. For brush or limbs; the bundles should be no longer than 4 feet in length, the overall bundle must be less than 2 feet in diameter, and no single limb or piece of brush in the bundle shall be larger than 4 inches in diameter. See our website or http://www.patriotdisposalservices.com for further information.
  6. POOL SEASON AND APPLICATIONS
Multiple projects will be occurring at the pool over the next seven weeks. With Joan’s passing we REALLY need people to step forward to help with the social aspects of the pool operations. Please contact pool@parkwestcommunity.org or social@parkwestcommunity.org if you can give some time to help your community. If you have not, please send your application in. Application forms may be found on the website and an online form will also be available for you this year.
  7. COMMUNITY SECURITY
With the warmer weather upon us you’ll be opening windows and such – please remember to secure your vehicles and homes. We have not had any major issues with break-ins recently but I wanted to remind everyone to keep your assets locked and thereby prevent a thief from having an easy opportunity. As a reminder, the Police non-emergency number is (703) 691-2131 to report any suspicious activity or break-ins. Also consider leaving your porch lights on throughout the night.

Enjoy your Friday and weekend,

Regards,

Mark
